Transitus: Remembering How St Francis of Assisi Embraced Sister Death
Join the Friars and Secular Franciscans as we remember St Francis and his falling asleep in the Lord. We hear from the Gospel of John that he asked to have read as he lay dying to this life. After our prayers, there will be a social in the Emmaus Hall.
Thursday October 4 | 6 p.m.
Divine Liturgy for the Feast of St Francis
The Eucharist is our Christian “Thanksgiving Feast” — and there is no better way to remember and celebrate the life and gift of St Francis than to worship God and celebrate the divine mysteries that Jesus gave us to become members of His Body.
Saturday October 6 | 12 p.m.
Blessing of Animals
Our tradition is to read the Canticle of Creation, praising God in and through the Sun and Moon, Wind and Fire, those who are dying and those who strive to forgive, recognizing that we are all brothers and sisters. After this poem written by St Francis, we will bless any animals present. If your animals are not able to travel, you can call for one of the friars to visit and bless your farm.
